Please tell me what else to look forward to in this update though, the struggle mechanic honestly seems a bit underwhelming to me but I have to admit I probably haven't seen enough. And I felt like an idiot for playing this game, so much that it totally broke my will to play any further for now. I know this was just a tiny random add-on thrown in with the rest of the DLC, but man right after this 'chess' game I had the court event again where my bishop was burping too loudly. Is that all? And what's more, there's a 5 year hard cooldown on this interaction even if the other character refuses. Your opponent will say some ridiculous things like "Oh you're using the Queen's gambit again? So cheap", even at the end of a game (which makes no sense as that's an opening move).Īnd then at the end there's a chance for an opinion boost/loss depending on rng. ![]() How this actually relates to real-life chess is anyone's guess. Chess Master helps you to play on chess sites, improve your chess playing skills, analyze game and find strongest moves. Martial is countered by intrigue, intrigue is countered by learning and learning is countered by martial. You invite a character to play and if they accept, the game begins a series of event choices, but based on martial, intrigue or learning - you basically just keep picking one choice to win (I think? It doesn't seem any more complicated than that). So chess in CK3 plays out just like a duel, for a small bit of prestige, gold, or just fun. ![]() I may have been stupidly excited about this feature but this turned out to be a crushing disappointment in the new DLC.
